Kirsty Sharples | Chef & Recipes

I work fulltime as an architectural assistant and I am passionate about all things creative. After an early failed attempt to become a drummer, I recognised at the age of 14 that I should probably focus my creative energy elsewhere.

From baking in the kitchen with my mum, my culinary skills developed gradually over the years. I have become much more experimental since I adopted a vegetarian diet 3 years ago. I spend a lot of my free time at the weekend trying out plant based recipes in my tiny kitchen and enjoy feeding the fruits of my labours to friends and family who pop by my flat. I love to go travelling and find inspiration for my cooking in food markets and cafes along the way.

The concept of my recipes is simple: I believe that the ingredients of every meal can be divided into 3 sections corresponding to the stages of development in the construction industry; foundation (onions, garlic, etc.), structure (veg, Seitan etc.) and cladding (coriander, nuts etc).
