A police box in Edinburgh to be transformed into a Vegan Café here’s what you can do to help before it opens

A vegan cafe is opening in a Police Box in Edinburgh and we cannot wait to try all the healthy vegan options they’re promising to offer. The company aim to not only feed the people of Edinburgh but also help people recovering from mental and physical issues with a holistic approach, in complement to, or following conventional treatment.

Beetroot, an Edinburgh based community interest company have announced they’re opening a vegan police box coffee/food kiosk on the South side of the Meadows at 100 Melville Drive in Edinburgh (behind the Pavilion Cafe): called the Beet Box.

Co-founder, Marie-Anne Marten says she can’t wait to get the box open and start serving the people of Edinburgh,

“I am so excited to be taking on the box, which will be a small step forward for Beetroot and a great opportunity for us.”

The police box is set to be given a makeover before opening on 2nd October 2017

The Beet Box promises a whole host of vegan treats including healthy cakes and treats, artisan fairtrade coffees, leaf teas, hot chocolates, smoothies and shakes, and specialty health drinks such as turmeric and beetroot lattes, as well as a light breakfast and lunch menu.

The Beet Box will also offer discounts to people who bring their re-usable cups and containers, so make sure to bring your own! Even more exciting is the thought of a programme of outdoor (weather dependent) events (mindfulness meditation, group massage, qi-gong in the park, live music…), so keep yourself informed by staying subscribed to the News Beet, and sharing the word with your friends.

We’ll be sure to make it down to the Meadows to try all this delicious sounding food. The Beet Box is set to open on Monday 2nd October but in the meantime these wonderful people are asking for help to make the Beet Box the best it can be!

If you live in Edinburgh or nearby, you can help make the Beet Box come to life!

Things the Beet Box needs:

Your pre-loved items: we need a small fridge, a countertop freezer, a kettle, and yoga mats

Your recommendations for: the best coffee & the best leaf tea in town, your favourite sourdough and gluten-free bread

Your skills: painters, joiners (simple work, probably 1/2 hour’s worth only required), teachers of beginners yoga, tai chi, qi-gong,  meditation, musicians/singers who like the outdoors…

Your taste buds: if you can help with any of the above,  you’re automatically enrolled in the menu tasters group. Yum.

Your custom: come and try some tasty food and drinks when we open!

Your social street cred: please tell your friends – there will be a thunderclap event for the launch coming soon. Help spread the word!
